WHS National Honor Society

The National Honor Society (NHS) recognizes outstanding high school students who demonstrate excellence in (1) scholarship, (2) leadership, (3) service, and (4) character. Membership in Waltham High School’s chapter of NHS is by invitation during a student’s junior or senior year.

Students in the classes of 2026 and 2027 will need a weighted cumulative GPA of 3.7 to be invited to apply for membership in the Waltham High School chapter of the National Honor Society. Students in the class of 2028 and beyond will need a weighted cumulative GPA of 4.0 to be invited to apply.

Class of 2026 NHS Timeline

  • On February 24, 2025, eligible juniors will receive email invitations to fill out an electronic candidate information form for consideration for NHS membership. Candidate information forms are due on March 13, 2025, at 7:30 a.m.

  • Students are welcome to attend an optional Hawk Block NHS Informational Meeting on February 26, 2025, to learn more about the application process.

  • All candidate information forms submitted on or before March 13, 2025, at 7:30 a.m. will be reviewed by the NHS Faculty Committee for potential acceptance into NHS.

    • Students who do not meet the March 13, 2025, deadline will receive the candidate information form again during the summer before their senior year, provided they still meet the minimum GPA requirements.

    • Students whose GPAs qualify them for NHS membership at the end of their junior year will be invited to fill out the candidate information form in the summer before their senior year.

  • All students will be informed of their acceptance or denial on March 21, 2025 (for current juniors) and by the week of September 8, 2025 (for seniors).

  • The induction ceremony for juniors will be held on May 20, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. in the Waltham High School Auditorium. Family and friends are welcome to attend this event. More information will follow.
